Three-Dimensional Volumetric Measurement of Endolymphatic Hydrops in Meniere's Disease

چکیده

Objective: We used volumetric three-dimensional (3D) analysis to quantitatively evaluate the extent of endolymphatic hydrops (EH) in entire inner ear. tested for correlations between planimetric and measurements, identify their advantages disadvantages. Methods: HYDROPS2-Mi2 EH images were acquired 32 ears (16 patients): 16 ipsilateral MD patients (MD-ears) contralateral ears. Three-T MR unit with a 32-channel phased-array coil/the contrast agent fill perilymphatic space sequence. calculated EH% [(endolymph)/(endolymph+perilymph)] ratio analyzed ear terms value, but only single cochlear vestibular slices subjected evaluation. The values compared non-MD ears, diagnostic accuracy two methods. Results: was significantly higher vestibules (50.76 ± 13.78%) than (39.50 8.99%). also (61.98 20.65%) (37.22 12.95%). correlated Conclusion: Volumetric measurements facilitate diagnosis Both methods seem be reliable consistent; this study. However, overestimates by 26.26%. Also, data may not correlate cochleae normal values.

Tinnitus & early endolymphatic hydrops.

Ménière's disease with all of its clinical manifestations can be divided into two categories – those symptoms that derive from the cochlea (the anterior labyrinth) and/or those that arise from the vestibular labyrinth or the posterior part of the inner ear. The symptoms that arise from the cochlea include hearing loss, which can be fluctuant and progressive and often is, or tinnitus which can b...

Three-dimensional Volumetric Ultrasonography of Enlarged Adrenal Gland in Dog

Objective: Detection and evaluation of adrenal glands are complex problems in conventional ultrasonography in dogs. Using three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography (US) in adrenal gland volume evaluation can add new potential for further adrenal studies. Design: Descriptive study Animals: a total of 10 mix breed dogs Procedures: The dogs underwent two dimensional (2D) and 3D US of the adrenal g...

Effects of endolymphatic sac decompression surgery on endolymphatic hydrops.

CONCLUSIONS The present findings suggest that complete control of vertigo after endolymphatic sac decompression surgery (ESDS) does not always depend on improved vestibular function or reduced endolymphatic hydrops. Vertigo control is, however, associated with hearing stability. OBJECTIVE Among surgical treatments for intractable Meniere's disease, ESDS is performed to preserve and improve in...

Spiral ganglion degeneration patterns in endolymphatic hydrops.

OBJECTIVES The mechanistic association between endolymphatic hydrops (ELH) and hearing loss (HL) is unclear. Although ELH severity has been shown to correlate in some studies with HL, injury of vital structures, including hair cells and the cochlear nerve, have failed to demonstrate correlation with ELH severity. The goal of this study is to evaluate the hypothesis that spiral ganglion cell deg...

Semi-Quantitative vs. Volumetric Determination of Endolymphatic Space in Menière’s Disease Using Endolymphatic Hydrops 3T-HR-MRI after Intravenous Gadolinium Injection

Magnetic resonance imaging enhances the clinical diagnosis of Menière's disease. This is accomplished by in vivo detection of endolymphatic hydrops, which are graded using different semi-quantitative grading systems. We evaluated an established, semi-quantitative endolymphatic hydrops score and with a quantitative method for volumetric assessment of the endolymphatic size. 11 patients with Meni...
